Spring in the Greenhouse: How I Garden, Grow & Recharge in My Cottage Greenhouse
As the chill of winter fades and the first signs of spring appear, my greenhouse becomes more than just a place to start seeds—it becomes a retreat, a workspace, and a warm little sanctuary. My custom glass greenhouse kit from BC Greenhouse Builders is where the season truly begins.

Why I Love My Greenhouse My greenhouse is designed to be beautiful and functional. It has a classic glass roof to allow maximum sunlight to pour in, and a polycarbonate back wall that gives me privacy while reflecting light back into the space. Cross-ventilation is key in the spring, so I keep both the side vent and the door window open on mild days. It also has automatic roof vents that open on their own when the temperature climbs—a lifesaver on those unexpectedly hot afternoons!
I get asked about my greenhouse all the time, and I’m always happy to share: it was built by BC Greenhouse Builders, an incredible Canadian company that has been designing and manufacturing greenhouses for over 70 years. Based in British Columbia, they offer high-quality, customizable kits that are made to withstand Canadian climates—whether you’re growing food year-round or simply extending your season. My Cottage model combines beauty, strength, and functionality—and I truly love it.
This is a sponsored post, but as always, I only share products I use and love in my own garden.

Making It Cozy I believe greenhouses should be welcoming. I’ve added a small outdoor sofa with cushions, an end table, and curtain lights for soft ambiance in the evenings. A tabletop water fountain brings in calming sounds, while cozy touches like a reading lamp, fuzzy slippers, pillows, and blankets make it feel like an extension of my home. On colder days, I plug in my electric fireplace heater and it’s instantly cozy.
My greenhouse is 8x10, which is compact enough for my urban garden yet large enough to allow a seating area.
